Job Title: Chemical Operator
Job Description: Element Staffing is recruiting for an entry-level Chemical Operator for a very reputable chemical manufacturing company in SE Houston. The Chemical Operator shall be reporting to supervisors and be responsible for safely and efficiently operating batch processes. They will also conduct material handling that includes loading/unloading of trucks and railcars, and packaging of drums, totes, bags and super sacks.
Duties/Responsibilities/Qualifications:
- Performing routine operation of basic control systems and devices to monitor levels, temperatures, pressures, flow rates and transfer of products also controlled by DCS.
- Lift hoses, bolt flanges and operate valves and similar equipment including the proper clearing and isolation of equipment.
- Report any safety issues immediately to supervisor and if necessary, take appropriate action needed, including system shutdown, if unsafe work practice is witnessed to prevent injury or environmental release.
- Monitor assigned area continually for proper equipment operation and product quality.
- Troubleshoot process, product quality, safety, and environmental problems and identify equipment requiring maintenance.
- Ensure safe and efficient performance of production and project work following standard operating procedures and work instructions.
- Maintain work area in clean and orderly manner, observe all company safety regulations and work rules.
- Take ownership for the accurate completion of all assigned tasks.
- Accountable for completing all in process reports and documents associated with job tasks and responsibilities accurately and completely during shift operations.
- Perform prescribed QC sampling of raw materials, in process material and/or finished products.
- Ability to reach all work areas on site (i.e. climb ladders, navigate catwalks, handle heights up to 50 feet, etc.).
- Ability to lift, twist, and turn up to 50 lb.
- Due to the safety sensitive nature of this job, candidate must pass regular & routine chemical dependency testing, annual respirator fit testing, and annual physical as required for certain tasks.
Years of Experience: 0-1+ years of relevant job experience, at least 1 year preferred
Education: High school diploma or equivalent, vocational training or job-related course work is preferred
Shift/Travel: Rotating Shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM (1st shift) and 2:00 PM to 12:30 AM (2nd shift)
Compensation: $27/hr
